A short time after receiving the knife I took it into the back yard to do a few tests of my own. In one of my tests I was simply trimming back an overgrown plant and when the blade went through the relatively tough stock of it the edge lightly clanged up against the side of the planter. I'm sorry to say it left a small ding on the edge, small but definately noticeable. The steel is tough but not harder than a stonewear planter. It is however designed as a hunting knife which I have no doubt it will suffice. Other than the one incident the edge has stayed very sharp and it is quite a formidable blade.
